WHAT IS PARENTING, REALLY
FamilyPlace has evolved over the years and we are now in our 11 yearof existence. We began as a parenting website when our children was under two years old. Familyplace sort of grew with us and our children. Now our children are in their teens and being parents our priorities are different. Parenting, as we understand it has evolved. AS we grow and learn, we will continue to share our experiences and perspectives and by sharing and learning from each other, we can be better parents.
This what parenting is all about. It is an ongoing and evolving process. The biggest challenge is not so much about "being parents to our children", it is about getting them ready for the future - a future we cannot fully grasp. And that's really scary!
Hence, we feel that parenting has much to do with us PARENTS as well as our CHILDRE
As we are living in a constantly changing world, we hope to into drive innovation and alternative thinking in our own lives in ways we can positively affect our children. ANd over time, we hope to bring focus back to the our children and our family.
So, come journey with us.

FAMILYPLACE “Bridging Families, Building Communities” through family-centred education
FamilyPlace is an initiative for parents by parents using ICT to “bridge families and build communities” with the focus on family and education. Through their website www.familyplace.com.my, articles, discussions and news about education and family issues are presented and discussed. The FamilyPlace Infosheets are printed and distributed quarterly to members as well as non-members as another platform to discuss or highlight educational issues and present new ideas in education today.
FamilyPlace obtained the DAGS (Demonstrator Application Grant Scheme) grant from the NITC (National IT Council) from 1999-2000 to expand its network through their website and other outreach programs.
FamilyPlace was founded in 1998 by Wai Leng (part-time musician & writer) and KV Soon as a platform for parents with the focus on parenting. It has since evolved to the present focus on education in line with our nation’s move towards creating a K-Society of life-long learners. They have two daughters, Amrita (10) and Samanta (9) and a son, Arian (2).
